Web Science is a cross-disciplinary field studying the web as a wholistic entity including humans and machines. The web could simply be seen as a graph of interconnected pages and other data. Web science recognises that this data of the web is part of a larger system that also includes people interacting with and through the web, and physiclal processes being monitored to generate web data and also being controlled through the web. Web science thefore interacts with many fields including data science, human computer interaction and the internet of things
